High Rate X-Tag

The High-Rate (HR) Archival X-Tag was designed in response to customer requests for a tag that would report measurements at shorter time intervals.  This tag is particularly suitable for short-term studies that require higher resolution data like mortality or post-release behavior studies.  The HR archival tag records and reports temperatures, depths and light levels at user-defined high sampling rates (every 1 to 6 minutes) for up to 30 days.

This tag is rated to withstand 3500 psi and includes an SIV duty cycle timer.  The tag is hermetically sealed within a carbon fiber low-drag housing.  It is also equipped to emergency release below a pre-set depth or after 4 days at constant pressure.  The HR X-Tag does not include geolocation estimations.

Once the tag has finished transmitting through the Argos system, data are parsed at our facility and a report is created. We send the report directly to the researcher via email. Turn-around times for reports can vary based on the number of datasets in queue for processing. Generally, data reports are sent within two weeks after the tag has completed its transmission. The reports contain time-series depth, time-series temperature, and daily geolocation estimates (geolocation excluded in high-rate programmed tags). The following link shows an example of some of the data provided in the report.
