Founded by Paul W. Howey in 1991, Microwave Telemetry, Inc. is a global leader in satellite tracking technology. Located near Washington, D.C. in Columbia, Maryland, the primary goal of our company is to provide state-of-the-art avian and marine tracking technology for scientists. Founded by biologists, our innovative products are designed with biologists and their goals in mind. Our mission is to advance the integrative fields of electronics and ecology, with conservation as the driving motivator behind each new design.
We introduced the first avian satellite transmitter available weighing less than 100 grams in 1991. Since then we have used the most advanced technologies to reduce the weight to a mere 5 grams, the lightest available Argos transmitter on the market. Additionally, in 1997 we introduced the first archival pop-up satellite tag for the marine environment. While the concept of retrieving archived data via satellite was not novel the advances in miniaturization allowed us to make the pop-up tag a reality. Since the original single-point pop-up tag, we have expanded the capabilities and reduced the size. We are continually working to reduce the size and increase the capabilities of our avian and marine satellite transmitters.
Our hardworking team is committed to your ongoing success. Feel free to contact us with any questions regarding your projects.
