Customized 30 Gram Legband PTT
As an alternative to a backpack, the 30 gram NANO PTT can be mounted on a legband. Although the antenna placement is not ideal, the results obtained with PTTs configured like this are remarkably good.
Dr. David Ellis pioneered the use of these legband mounted PTTs to successfully track translocated cranes.
Customized PTTs for Tracking Northern Royal Albatross

"Northern royal albatross have been intensively studied since 1938 at Taiaroa Head, Dunedin, New Zealand where the birds can be viewed and appreciated by the public. All adult birds are individually colour banded and since 1994 many have been satellite tagged. They carried the first barometer in the PTT in pioneering measurements of the bird's exploitation of the wind systems. These birds fly around the world; some have carried MT PTTs over the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans the PTTs performed faultlessly for more than a year." - David Nicholls
