PTT-100 70 gram Argos/GPS Solar Powered PTT

Specifications

PTT-100 70 gram Argos/GPS Solar Powered PTT-100

The 70 gram Argos/GPS Solar PTT combines the
benefits of a solar PTT with the accuracy of GPS.

This revolutionary PTT was the result of three years of research and development. It takes advantage of the unique ability of the Argos system to receive data from low powered PTTs and the capability of the GPS system to accurately position a tiny receiver anywhere on the surface of the earth.

Configured as a backpack this PTT is suitable for tracking birds in the 1.5 kg and heavier range. Since its introduction in 2001, this PTT has been successfully used for tracking many large species of birds including vultures, eagles and geese.

tule goose (Anser albifrons gambeli)

In 2001, the USGS was the first to deploy our 70gram
Argos/GPS transmitter on a vulnerable
subspecies of greater white-fronted goose known as the
tule goose (Anser albifrons gambeli). The tule goose
population consists of < 8000 individuals, and the research
focuses on the habitat needs of this vulnerable
population on the Pacific coast of North America
through the migration and wintering periods.
